A Day at the Park

Charlie bypassed the swings and climbing equipment and headed straight for the sign that described appropriate playground behavior. He knocked it continuously and, at first I thought he was protesting the restrictions. However, now I think he was just studying the rules of engagement. The rules are heavily weighted towards dog owners, but Charlie has agreed that IF he owns a dog in the near future, he will definitely follow the leash and pet litter laws. No quarrel there. However, he seems quite chagrined with the whole "no glass bottles" rule and will bring this up with Aunt Jill and the environmental consequences of the implicit encouragement of the use of plastic ware. And whatever you do, don't get him started on the rule that the park closes at 10:30. Remembering that he is only one, I explained the difference between 10:30 am and 10:30 pm which seemed to bring him down off the ledge.
