*New Words
Andy says new words every day. Today he said baby for the first time. It was perfectly clear. He says up perfectly clearly too (in reference to going upstairs, holding toys up in the air, and to one of his favorite books "Papa, please get me the moon" in which Papa goes up and up and up to get the moon for his daughter). He has also recently started saying elbow (ahboo), stairs, gate, boo for a ghost, tumble (he jumps on our bed on his own, fall downs, and says tumble) and ding dong (meaning he wants to be hung upside down and swung back and forth while we say ding dong). He has started calling the whisk cindy! He asks for her by name and then whisks furiously in a metal bowl. He learned that our across the street neighbor's name is Dan and is constantly pointing to his house and saying Dan. The word Andy says most (next to mama and dada) is still star. He loves stars!! My parents Momo and Baba just came to visit and not only brought Andy star toys but also star stickers so even his non-star toys have stars! He drops the r on star and sounds like he has a Boston accent!
*Spinning
Andy now spins himself in circles!
*Helicopter
During the super bowl Andy just had to go outside to see the stars and moon so Jill and I took him out to play. There was a low flying helicopter that was really noisy and scared the beejezus out of Andy. He can't stop thinking about it. At the time we waved bye bye to the helicopter after the noise went away. Ever since he has been pointing up in the house (previously he only did this when he heard an airplane) and looking worried and then waving bye bye in the air. I've been telling him the story each time about how we heard the the noisy helicopter and I picked him up and then we waved bye bye. We have also been looking at pictures of helicopters. He is still very worried about it though.
*Books
Andy loves reading books and usually does the sign for more once you finish the book so that you will read it again. He loves Papa will you get the moon for me, I'll be the horse if you play with me, hand hand fingers thumb, alexander and the terrible horrible no good day, moonlight, where is the green sheep, and many others.
*Andy likes things to be in place
During the ice storm we took the gate blocking the fire place down so we could put a bowl to catch some dripping water. We thought Andy would try to go in the fire place but instead he watched the dripping water go into the bowl fascinated. He never once tried to go in the fireplace so I thought we didn't need to put the gate back up. Once we removed the bowl Andy brought the gate over to us and pointed at the fireplace insisting that we put the gate back in it's place! This morning Andy found an outlet cover. I asked him to give it to me because it is not a toy. He shook his head no, walked over to the outlet missing the cover in the other room, pointed to the outlet, and handed me the outlet cover!
*Momo and Baba came to visit
My parents came to visit for a long weekend to help out while Mykkell took two days off and got snowed in all week! Yay for ice storms! We started referring to my mom as Momo and Andy immediately followed suit. We were calling my dad Grandpa but then Andy started calling him Baba on his own! Andy named my dad! He asks for my parents constantly. My mom taught Andy that Matt's mom is called Nana so now when he sees a picture of Matt's mom he says Nana.
